True Corporation Deploys 24-Hour Network Protection Against Flooding
True Corporation has deployed emergency teams and flood barriers nationwide to protect its telecom network from heavy rainfall and flooding that began September 25, maintaining 24-hour coverage across affected regions.
True Corporation has escalated emergency measures to protect its nationwide communication network following continuous heavy rainfall starting September 25, which has caused flooding across multiple areas including Bangkok, surrounding areas, and regions throughout Thailand. The company has deployed field engineering teams to at-risk locations, installed flood barriers around main and secondary telecommunications hubs, and established real-time monitoring through CCTV cameras at critical points. Emergency operations centers and regional signal emergency monitoring centers have been set up to rapidly deploy teams and equipment to maintain network coverage, particularly in areas where flooding has disrupted transportation but communications remain essential for public access to information and emergency coordination.
Kuram Achfak, network management head at True Corporation, stated that engineering teams are monitoring water levels closely and assessing risks to base stations and telecommunications hubs, using flood barriers to protect vulnerable equipment hubs and strengthening protection for stations near rivers, canals, low-lying areas, and historically flood-prone zones.
True has installed flood barriers at telecommunications hubs and upgraded water level monitoring across main hubs, secondary hubs, and base stations in at-risk areas nationwide to enable rapid response. The company continues using existing protective measures including equipment elevation, raised platforms, CCTV installation, and water-level sensors at monitoring points for continuous risk detection.
To address travel restrictions caused by flooding, True has reorganized its field teams into zone-based units led by network engineers, establishing regional emergency operations centers to enable faster decision-making and equipment deployment while maintaining 24-hour network coverage. Field teams work with the Business Network Intelligence Center, which monitors the nationwide network 24 hours daily using base station data, weather conditions, and local information to prioritize monitoring areas and assign response teams.
True has prepared backup power systems and fuel supplies, with logistics networks in place to sustain continuous operations if main power systems in flood-affected areas are disrupted.
