On September 26, the Thai Meteorology Department issued its 12th warning (228/2569) for heavy to very heavy rainfall across Thailand through September 27. The central region, including Bangkok and surrounding areas, and the eastern region will experience continuous heavy rainfall in many areas and very heavy rain in some zones through September 27. Rain is expected to decrease on September 28, though heavy showers will persist in western parts of the northern and central regions. A strong low-pressure system covering the central region and Bangkok, combined with a fairly strong southwest monsoon over the Andaman Sea, the south, and the Gulf of Thailand, is driving the conditions.
The public is warned to prepare for dangerous conditions from heavy rainfall and accumulated precipitation that could cause flooding, especially in foothill areas near waterways and low-lying zones. Travel through flood-prone routes should be avoided, particularly in low-lying areas prone to sudden accumulation. Waves in the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand are moderately strong, with heights of 2–3 meters in the upper gulf and upper Andaman, exceeding 3 meters in thunderstorm areas. Lower areas have waves around 2 meters, exceeding 2 meters in storms. Fishermen should exercise caution and avoid thunderstorm zones; small boats in the upper gulf and upper Andaman should remain ashore through September 27.
