Social Security Board Election Postponed to October 11 Due to Flooding
Thailand's Social Security Board election has been postponed from September 27 to October 11 due to widespread flooding that would prevent voters from reaching polling stations.
On September 26, officials reported on preparations for the Social Security Board election, originally set for September 27 from 08:00 to 16:00. The Election Administration Center for employer and worker representatives held an emergency meeting starting at 11:00 to assess the situation. By 16:00, the committee voted to postpone the nationwide Social Security Board election from September 27 to October 11, 2569, citing heavy rain and flooding in many areas that would obstruct voters' ability to travel and election committees' ability to perform their duties. The rescheduled voting will take place on Sunday, October 11, 2569, from 08:00 to 16:00 at the same polling locations previously announced. Voters can obtain further information from the Social Security Office website or the hotline 1506.
The Pathum Thani Social Security Office, located in one of the areas requiring close monitoring of the flood situation, has a total of 182 polling units, each with nine election committee members. Officials have prepared election equipment and completed inspections of ballot boxes. Equipment delivery and inspection in most areas was nearly finished before the Election Commission voted to postpone the election to October 11, 2569.
