Thai Railways Suspends 17 Trains on Northern and Eastern Lines
Thai Railways suspended 17 trains on northern and eastern lines after flooding damaged tracks near Hua Ngiao Station, forcing passenger transfers by road and route closures between multiple stations.
September 26, 2025 — Thai Railways (SRT) announced schedule adjustments on the northern line after flooding occurred at the railway embankment near Hua Ngiao Station (marker 217/4-5), with water levels rising approximately 15 centimeters above the track. The flooding prevented all northbound and southbound trains from passing through the affected area, requiring the closure of the route between Nong Po and Noen Makkok stations from 10:50 AM onward.
Due to the situation, multiple trains are affected. Thai Railways coordinated with relevant agencies and adjusted schedules to ensure passenger convenience and travel safety. Current service modifications include: Express Train 111 (Bangkok–Den Chai) will transfer passengers by road from Ban Ta Kli Station to Nakhon Sawan Station before continuing by train (Train 112) to Den Chai; Express Train 112 (Den Chai–Bangkok) will transfer passengers by road from Nakhon Sawan to Ban Ta Kli Station before continuing by train (Train 111) to Bangkok; Express Train 102 (Chiang Mai–Bangkok) will transfer passengers by road from Nakhon Sawan to Bangkok; Diesel Special Express Train 8 (Chiang Mai–Bangkok) will transfer passengers by road from Nakhon Sawan to Bangkok; Ordinary Train 201 (Bangkok–Phitsanulok) will terminate at Ban Ta Kli Station; and Ordinary Train 211 (Bangkok–Tha Phan Hin) will terminate at Ban Ta Kli Station.
Meanwhile, Thai Railways announced the cancellation of nine long-distance commercial trains on the northern line starting September 26, 2025, due to continuous water buildup in the flooded area and safety concerns regarding nighttime road transfers during heavy rain and flooding. The affected trains are Express Train 109 (Bangkok–Chiang Mai), Special Express Trains 9 and 13 (Bangkok–Chiang Mai), Express Train 107 (Bangkok–Den Chai), Express Train 51 (Bangkok–Chiang Mai), Express Train 108 (Den Chai–Bangkok), Express Train 52 (Chiang Mai–Bangkok), Special Express Trains 14 and 10 (Chiang Mai–Bangkok).
Passengers holding tickets for cancelled trains may request full refunds at any railway station nationwide. Thai Railways urges passengers to monitor service announcements closely, as flooding and weather conditions remain subject to change. SRT will continuously assess the situation and adjust schedules accordingly, prioritizing the safety of passengers and staff.
On the same day, Thai Railways also reported that heavy rainfall caused flooding on the railway embankment along the eastern line, necessitating temporary closure of certain sections for operational safety. The latest closures include the route between Ban Kaeng and Sra Kaeng stations and the route between Aranyaprathet and Watthana stations.
