Pathum Thani Mobilizes Volunteers to Fill 3,000 Sandbags for Flood Defense
Pathum Thani's Khlong Luang Municipality mobilized hundreds of volunteers to fill and distribute 3,000 sandbags for flood defense, setting up an emergency command center at a local temple as water levels rise.
Pathum Thani has established an emergency command center at Saeng Sarn Temple to mobilize sandbag distribution in response to rising flood threats. On September 25, Mayor Yutthashakdi Chuprasoerit of Khlong Luang Municipality, accompanied by provincial council member Praphinya Srichan, municipal officials, community leaders, and volunteers, launched the operation to rapidly produce and distribute sandbags to affected residents.
The Provincial Administrative Organization, led by Governor Kamnwithi Thupkrachang, provided approximately 3,000 sandbags to the municipality for emergency use in constructing water barriers at high-risk locations. The effort has drawn widespread community participation, with residents and volunteers working together to fill bags, tie them, and transport them for quick distribution. Many residents brought their own vehicles to collect sandbags for immediate protection of their homes against potentially rapid water level increases.
Mayor Yutthashakdi stated that the municipality is taking an active approach to the flooding crisis, continuously monitoring water levels, preparing equipment and materials, and ensuring sandbag distribution reaches all vulnerable areas. He emphasized that these efforts aim to relieve residents' suffering and prevent property damage from flooding, bringing reassurance to all Khlong Luang residents.
