A third suspect confessed to beating a 73-year-old moneylender with an iron rod during a robbery in Nakhon Si Thammarat on May 1st, with police investigating whether additional accomplices were involved in the killing.
A third suspect has been arrested in the murder of Pranee, 73, a moneylender who was killed with a sharp weapon near a concrete road in Moo 5, Khuan Kaew Subdistrict, Ron Phibun District, Nakhon Si Thammarat, on the morning of May 1st. Two suspects, Charoen Yut, 51, and Palpol, 54, were previously arrested. Police believe the motive involves debt settlement and theft.
On May 15, 2025, investigators from Ron Phibun Police Station obtained a warrant from Thung Song Provincial Court to arrest a third suspect, Akkhom, 57, a mechanic whose house is approximately 300 meters from where Pranee's body was found. During intensive questioning, Akkhom confessed to using an iron rod to beat Pranee while collecting loan payments from her home before moving her body to the roadside where it was discovered. However, he has not yet revealed information about any accomplices, though police believe the crime likely involved more than one person.
Police took Akkhom to the crime scene to corroborate his confession. Previously, Akkhom had been questioned as a key witness and had implicated Charoen Yut and Palpol, who were arrested but denied involvement. Police remain confident in the forensic evidence against them. Senior officials have assigned additional investigating officers to Ron Phibun Police Station to conduct further investigations and accelerate the resolution of this shocking case, which has garnered significant public attention.
