Man, 22, Arrested for Fatally Stabbing 53-Year-Old Over Motorcycle Debt
A 22-year-old man was arrested for fatally stabbing a 53-year-old over a motorcycle debt in Hat Yai, Songkhla on September 1, with police seizing an improvised pistol disguised as a ballpoint pen during his capture.
On September 16, 2569, Changwat Police Sub-division Chief Chanchao Srangawut ordered a coordinated operation with Songkhla Provincial Police and the Suppression Police Unit to arrest Surin (surname withheld), 22, under a court warrant issued on September 1, 2569. Officers also seized an improvised pistol disguised as a ballpoint pen.
The case began on September 1, 2569, when police received a report of a 50-year-old man stabbed in the abdomen on Prachaachuen Road 1, Soi 2, Ban Phru sub-district, Hat Yai district, Songkhla. Residents helped transport him to hospital, but he later died. The victim was identified as Ranong (surname withheld), 53, from Koh Lak sub-district, Mueang district, Prachuap Khiri Khan province, with a residence 500 meters from the incident site.
After investigating CCTV footage, police identified Surin fleeing on a Yamaha Fino motorcycle with Songkhla license plates. During interrogation, Surin confessed he was angry that the victim had borrowed his motorcycle to commit theft, causing him financial trouble. He claimed an argument broke out when the victim rode into the alley, prompting him to stab him with a knife.
Surin was charged with murder and carrying a concealed weapon in public without authorization. He has been handed over for prosecution.
