A new homeowner's discovery of human skeletal remains in a foreclosed house she purchased has raised several mysterious circumstances surrounding the case. On September 16, 2569, Phukha Kaew, 54, who bought the house from a government foreclosure office on August 6, 2569, recounted her shocking discovery and the strange events leading up to it.
After paying the foreclosure office, Kaew visited Mae Ping Police Station on September 15 to file paperwork requesting police and village elders as witnesses to help collect the previous owner's belongings from the house. The property, which she intended to renovate, had drawn complaints from neighbors about a foul odor in the days before. One to two days earlier, residents passing by had joked about whether someone might have hanged themselves inside.
The night before filing her paperwork, Kaew had a dream in which an elderly woman told her she would win first prize in the lottery and asked what she wanted in exchange. Kaew replied that she wanted nothing.
When Kaew unlocked the house, she was shocked to find skeletal remains clinging to a wooden bed. Initial inquiries suggest the remains belong to Sri Wan, the original owner, whom many believed had moved away and died years earlier. Her son had allegedly already cremated her at Wat Pa Phae temple, though details remained unknown until now.
When Kaew came to clear vegetation around the property and villagers suggested she look inside due to the lingering stench, she was initially skeptical. However, upon entering, she discovered the skeleton. Strangely, the house contained no other valuables and nothing appeared to have been stolen.
After police attempted to contact Sri Wan's son and checked his records, they discovered he has been imprisoned in Tak Prison since February 2569. Police from Mae Ping Station are now traveling to question him in jail to confirm whether the remains belong to his mother.
The skeletal remains are currently at the forensic pathology unit of Chiang Mai University Hospital, pending autopsy results to confirm the identity. The new homeowner noted that house number 96 and Sri Wan's age of 93 match auspicious numerology; if correct, she plans to perform a merit-making ceremony for the deceased.
Internet sleuths analyzing Google Street View historical images discovered that in 2554, the house operated as a shop with images showing Sri Wan sitting on the same spot where the skeleton was eventually found. However, the house began closing down and was abandoned between 2562 and 2563, remaining vacant until the present.
