Tops Boosts Flood Preparedness with Extra Stock, Transport
Tops, part of Central Retail, is rolling out five flood-readiness measures, including stockpiling essential goods for over 20 days and raising transport capacity by 30-50%. The chain will use automated stock-replenishment and AI-guided routing to keep stores supplied nationwide, with 24-hour warehouse operations and extra staff. Officials from the Internal Trade Department visited the Bang Bua Thong distribution centre to review the preparations.
Tops said it has stockpiled essential consumer goods for more than 20 days ahead of potential flooding and boosted its fleet by 30-50% to raise delivery frequency. An automatic replenishment system analyses real-time store demand, while AI tools adjust transport routes based on live water-level and traffic data. Warehouse and delivery teams work around the clock, with extra overtime and outsourced staff deployed during peak periods. The four main distribution centres in Bang Bua Thong, Maha Chai, Phra Ram 3 and Bang Na support continuous, timely shipments to stores across Thailand. Executives stressed that building supply security, expanding supplier networks and enhancing operational resilience are key to long-term retail stability, and they noted that the Bang Bua Thong facility, operating since November 1998, covers 43,242 square metres and holds over 26,000 SKUs.
