BANGKOK — 11 July 2026, Thailand's Meteorological Department has issued its sixth weather warning, cautioning that Typhoon Bavi will strengthen the southwest monsoon and bring heavy to very heavy rainfall, flash floods and rough seas across parts of the country through 15 July 2026.

The warning said the strengthened southwest monsoon over the Andaman Sea, Thailand and the Gulf of Thailand will generate strong winds and hazardous sea conditions.

Waves in the upper Andaman Sea are forecast to reach 2–4 metres, exceeding 4 metres during thunderstorms. Waves in the upper Gulf of Thailand and lower Andaman Sea are expected to reach 2–3 metres, rising above 3 metres in stormy conditions.

The department advised all vessels to navigate with caution and avoid areas affected by thunderstorms. Small boats in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand were urged to remain ashore during the warning period.

Between 11 and 14 July, heavy to very heavy rain is forecast for parts of the western South, western Central Plains and eastern Thailand, with Ranong, Phang Nga, Kanchanaburi, Chanthaburi and Trat identified as provinces at particular risk.

Residents in vulnerable areas, especially near hillsides, waterways and low-lying areas, were urged to watch for flash floods and forest runoff caused by accumulated rainfall.

The department said Typhoon Bavi, currently over the Pacific Ocean east of Taiwan, is expected to make landfall along the eastern coast of Fujian Province, China, between 11 and 12 July.

Although the storm is not expected to make landfall in Thailand, it will intensify the southwest monsoon affecting the country.

Authorities advised travellers heading to areas affected by the typhoon to monitor weather updates before departure.

The Meteorological Department said its next weather bulletin would be issued at 17.00 hrs on 11 July 2026.

The government has cancelled a 400 billion baht borrowing plan after an opposition MP exposed questionable projects like EV garbage trucks and solar sports courts that appeared unrelated to genuine energy transition goals.

Government Scraps 400 Billion Baht Borrowing Plan After Budget Padding Exposed
15h ago Khaosod

The government has withdrawn its 400 billion baht borrowing plan after opposition scrutiny. On July 11, MP Sirikanya Tansakul, an opposition list member and Pheu Thai deputy leader, questioned projects funded under the decree, suggesting they were padded initiatives unrelated to energy transition, such as EV garbage trucks, solar sports courts, and rooftop solar installations. The Pheu Thai Party obtained documents circulated to local government organizations that resembled product catalogs rather than substantive policy proposals. Sirikanya subsequently posted a screenshot of an urgent order from the Local Government Promotion Department notifying all provincial governors of the plan's cancellation, confirming that the digital catalog she had exposed the previous day was officially scrapped.

Scaloni Unfazed By Messi's Brilliance At 39
15h ago Khaosod

Argentina's head coach Lionel Scaloni says he is unsurprised that superstar Lionel Messi continues to perform excellently despite being 39 years old, describing his body as functioning like a machine.

Messi has maintained impressive form at the 2026 World Cup after scoring eight goals, sharing the tournament's leading scorer position with France's Kylian Mbappé.

Scaloni recently discussed Messi's ability to maintain peak form at this age, emphasizing it is no surprise whatsoever. "It doesn't surprise me," he said. "Perhaps people who don't know him might expect that at 39, he wouldn't be able to perform at this level. But I've said it countless times—as long as he wants to, he will be the best. That's what I think, and it's not just because I'm his coach."

The 48-year-old head coach also noted that Messi's body operates like a machine. "Leo runs the same way almost every match. Physically, he's trained well with the fitness coach and it's paid off. But in terms of statistics, I'm not sure how much he's actually changed." He added, "What's clear is he gives everything he has. When he commits fully and feels he can create danger, he becomes a machine."

A funeral held at De Nieuwe Ooster crematorium in Amsterdam has gone viral after a pole dancer performed in front of the casket during the ceremony. Despite initial surprise from attendees, the performance was arranged to commemorate and honor the deceased couple's professional legacy. The video has garnered over 5 million views.

The deceased were a husband and wife who previously owned a nightclub operating in Amsterdam's Red Light District. The husband passed away in 1993, while the wife recently died. The family decided to hold a joint funeral to remember both of them.

During the ceremony, a blonde female pole dancer performed advanced moves including spins and inversions near the casket and photographs of the deceased, set to Queen's famous song "The Show Must Go On." As a special request from the family, the husband's grave was opened and his remains were brought to the crematorium to be mourned on the same day as his wife, with plans to scatter both their ashes in the same location afterward.

The funeral took place last year but recently resurfaced and went viral after the video was shared on social media. The funeral home operator revealed that when the deceased's children initially proposed the pole dance performance idea, he was surprised. However, he understood their intention was to honor their parents' life story. "At first, I politely asked if they wanted to reflect their parents' profession in the funeral. The children hesitated, but a few days later they called back and decided to hire a pole dancer for the performance," the funeral director explained.

The funeral director emphasized that the performance was not intended to be disrespectful or attention-seeking, but rather a tribute to the family's history. The pole dancer came to give a warm farewell to the couple who managed the legendary nightclub in the Red Light District.

Although attendees were initially surprised, they understood the meaning behind the performance, as everyone was aware of the deceased's life story. The funeral proceeded smoothly and successfully according to the family's wishes.

After the video was shared, many netizens left comments expressing their appreciation and calling it a fitting tribute to the couple's legacy.

Dog Nearly Triggers Grenade Found in Backyard
15h ago Khaosod

A family in Noen Khun district, Sisaket province narrowly escaped disaster when their dog picked up a live hand grenade and brought it home to chew on, thinking it was a bone. Noen Khun District Officer Chaiwat Thamwat reported that the incident occurred on July 10 at 2 p.m., when village officials in Phak Kha Yai Noi subdistrict notified police of a suspicious explosive-like object found on residential property. Officers immediately cordoned off the area and conducted a detailed inspection.

The homeowner, who requested anonymity, said he was resting on his porch after a doctor's visit when he spotted a dark, round object covered in rust. Thinking it was old scrap metal or plastic, he picked it up to examine it. When he flipped it over, he immediately spotted a grenade pin attached to the device and realized it was a hand grenade. Terrified, he quickly placed it down and moved it to an open area away from his house.

His elderly mother, who had been home alone all morning, revealed that the family dog had carried the object from somewhere unknown and had been playing with it near the house. Everyone assumed it was just an old bone or plastic scrap, so no one intervened. The homeowner said: "If the dog had bitten the pin or dropped it hard enough to trigger it, I don't know what would have happened. Thinking about it still gives me chills because the whole family and the dog were near this grenade all morning."

Police conducted initial checks and called in an explosive ordnance disposal team using maximum safety precautions. The investigation confirmed the object was a Chinese-manufactured TYPE 82-2 hand grenade—a fragmentation weapon. Despite its corroded exterior, all critical mechanisms remained intact and fully functional.

Officers explained that grenades of this type are commonly found in border areas and may have been abandoned for years, accumulating rust. However, this does not render them safe. Old explosives often present higher risks because their internal mechanisms cannot be reliably assessed. Any pulling of the safety pin or sufficient impact could trigger detonation, scattering shrapnel over a wide area and causing severe injury or death to nearby people and damage to property.

After obtaining authorization, officials carefully moved the grenade to a remote rice field away from the community and proceeded with standard demolition procedures. The resulting explosion left a crater approximately 30 centimeters deep and 60 centimeters wide in the soil.

Thief Targets Rare Pokemon Cards in Japan Shop Heist
15h ago Khaosod

A burglar broke into a trading card game shop in Moriya, Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan on July 3rd, targeting rare and valuable Pokemon cards. The break-in occurred around 3 a.m. local time. Security camera footage reveals that after the shop closed, a man smashed the front door glass to enter, then proceeded directly to the display cases featuring expensive Pokemon cards. He shattered the glass cases and quickly stuffed all the cards into a prepared bag before fleeing the shop.

What stands out about this theft is the suspect's selective targeting. Despite the shop displaying many other types of cards and merchandise, the thief focused exclusively on the Pokemon card display cases and left all other merchandise untouched, suggesting careful planning and a specific objective.

The shop owner revealed that nearly all stolen cards were rare, high-value items. Some boxes carried market prices near 500,000 yen (approximately 100,000 baht), while individual cards were valued around 300,000 yen (approximately 60,000 baht). The shop initially estimates total losses at approximately 2 million yen (approximately 440,000 baht).

Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage from both inside the shop and the surrounding area to identify and pursue criminal charges against the suspect.

Choosing Industrial Caster Wheels: Materials And Performance Compared

Industrial caster wheels significantly impact factory efficiency and safety, with material choices like nylon, rubber, and polyurethane each offering distinct advantages for different operational demands and floor conditions.

Choosing Industrial Caster Wheels: Materials And Performance Compared
15h ago Khaosod

In manufacturing and production across all sectors, equipment that enhances the efficiency of moving goods and raw materials is vital to operations. One often-overlooked component that directly impacts mobility, safety, and maintenance costs is the caster wheel. Selecting wheels suited to specific work requirements can reduce labor, speed up transport, and extend equipment lifespan effectively. Today there are many wheel types, materials, and weight capacities to choose from.

Industrial caster wheels play an important role in factory operations. They enable smooth movement of goods, raw materials, tools, and workpieces while reducing manual labor and injury risks from heavy lifting. They also improve production continuity. Using unsuitable wheels can cause premature wear, noise, difficult movement, or early cart damage.

Nylon wheels are popular for heavy industrial work due to their strength, impact resistance, and good weight capacity. They offer excellent chemical, oil, and moisture resistance, making them ideal for demanding environments. However, this type can be quite rigid.

Rubber wheels move smoothly and reduce noise. For factories wanting to minimize vibration and sound, rubber wheels are an excellent choice due to their high elasticity. They work well on many floor surfaces including concrete, tile, and epoxy. However, size and thickness should match the load capacity for optimal performance.

Polyurethane (PU) wheels combine the benefits of nylon and rubber, supporting heavy loads with greater softness than hard materials and leaving no floor marks. Factories prioritizing floor protection and transport flexibility often choose PU wheels for their long lifespan and efficient maintenance savings.

Super Lean wheels address Lean Manufacturing systems. Many organizations now use Lean Manufacturing to improve production efficiency and eliminate waste at every stage. Super Lean wheels are key equipment for conveying and shelving systems in such operations. They are designed to be lightweight, easy to install, and flexible for various uses—ideal for production line carts, mobile shelving, and storage systems requiring high maneuverability. Super Lean wheels also reduce effort in moving items, improve worker convenience, and support Lean principles focused on maximizing efficiency across all processes.

Thailand Tightens Child Registration Rules Against Fake Fathers
16h ago Khaosod

On July 11, 2025, Lalida Periyawiwattana, spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, announced that the government under Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul is committed to preventing corruption and fraud in Thailand's civil registration system. The Interior Ministry has accelerated measures to crack down on fraudulent child registration, closing loopholes exploited by international criminal networks that grant Thai nationality to foreign children before using it to acquire property, conduct business, or launder money through Thai citizens.

Deputy Interior Minister Palpeer Suwarnchuay announced the expansion of operations against marriage fraud and false child recognition, uncovering a scheme where Thai nationals were hired as "surrogate fathers" to register foreign nationals' children as Thai citizens. Following investigations, the Interior Ministry issued urgent directives to all 878 district registration offices nationwide to strengthen child registration procedures, requiring at least one parent who is a foreign national to appear personally before registration officials. This verification is designed to confirm parentage and prevent document fraud.

Spokesperson Lalida stated that these measures represent enhanced preventive screening to close loopholes in the civil registration system and reduce opportunities for international criminal networks to misuse Thai nationality for property holdings, business ventures, or money laundering through Thai citizens—issues that threaten national security and the country's interests.

Deputy Minister Palpeer confirmed the government will continue system improvements alongside strict law enforcement, applying the principle of "ignoring names, watching behavior." Regardless of whether violators are civilians, foreigners, or state officials, those found involved in wrongdoing will be investigated and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

"The government addresses root causes, not just prosecuting offenders," said Lalida. "We're closing system loopholes to prevent recurrence, creating transparency in civil registration management, and protecting the country's long-term interests."
