Agriculture Minister Warawut Khawkham confirmed the Udon Thani World Horticultural Expo is nearly 100% ready for its November 1 opening, with gardens and plant collections fully complete and only minor finishing touches remaining. After inspecting the site on October 30, the minister, a native of Udon Thani, chose to walk the grounds instead of using a golf cart to examine every detail and urge organizers to finish on schedule. He noted visitors will need a full day to explore the vast site, which blends ornamental gardens with agricultural technology, local culture, and international exhibits. Highlights include four plant pavilions showcasing orchids, bromeliads, cacti, and shade plants; outdoor lotus and water gardens; a Thai fruit trail; and a loop bridge overlooking the Nong Da wetland. Sixteen organizational gardens display modern farm machinery, cultivation innovations, and eco-friendly production concepts. A traditional Isan village area features folk houses demonstrating rice farming, silk weaving, herbal medicine, and Thai traditional medicine. The Chaloem Phra Kiat Building hosts exhibitions on royal agricultural projects, water management, natural conservation, and Udon Thani's 134-year history. An international zone presents horticulture and cultures from abroad. The minister said facilities, including a community market, are prepared to welcome both Thai and foreign tourists.
