Veterans Agency Director Visits Phuket, Phangnga Veterans
On October 15, 2026, the director of Thailand's Veterans Assistance Organization visited retired soldiers in Phuket and Phangnga provinces, delivering gifts and listening to their concerns. The visits included Private Wichai Chaiyakul in Phuket and Sergeant Somphong Somjai in Phangnga, both veterans of the Chanthaburi–Trat border defense. The outreach aimed to assess welfare needs and improve support for veterans and their families.
The Veterans Assistance Organization director, General Kanthat Nikornyann, accompanied by Jittanan Nikornyann of the Veterans Organization Women's Association, visited out‑of‑service veterans in Phuket and Phangnga. First, they went to the home of Private Wichai Chaiyakul, 65, a third‑class veteran who had defended the Chanthaburi–Trat border, delivering gifts and listening to his concerns. Next, they visited Sergeant Somphong Somjai, 67, a fourth‑class veteran with the same border service background, offering gifts and encouragement. The trip allowed the director to gather information on the veterans’ problems and assistance needs to shape future support measures, ensuring comprehensive care and maximum benefit for veterans and their families.
