Thailand's Volunteer Soldier program for 2027 has attracted 16,411 applicants as of early November, reaching 65% of its 25,000 target. The Ministry of Defence promotes the scheme as a career pathway offering a monthly package of about 15,000 baht, personal development, education opportunities, and future job prospects in the military or civilian sectors.
The Volunteer Soldier project for 2027 continues to attract strong public interest. As of 1 November 2026, cumulative applications reached 16,411, representing 65.64% of the 25,000 target. The surge reflects young people voluntarily joining military service to create opportunities and build a stable future. Under the Ministry of Defence's policy to encourage voluntary enlistment and develop service models as a career and life-security option, the program offers four key opportunities. First, income and security: recruits receive a combined salary and benefits of approximately 15,000 baht per month. Second, self-development: fostering discipline, physical and mental strength, public spirit, and social responsibility. Third, education and vocational skills: enabling further education, skill training, and knowledge development for future careers. Fourth, life advancement: opening pathways to continue as career military personnel or transition to other sectors according to aptitude and interest. This transforms military service into a period of learning, potential development, and future security. The first selection round is scheduled for Saturday, 28 November 2026, with online applications open until 24 January 2027. Interested individuals can apply at https://rcm.rta.mi.th under the concept "From Duty... to Opportunity: A Future You Choose," aiming to make every voluntary commitment the starting point for new opportunities in career, income, education, and life progress.
