On October 26, 2026, volunteers from the Sawang Mongkol Sathit Thammasathan Association in Phetchabun province received a report of a child trapped inside a vehicle at a convenience store parking lot on the road up Phu Thap Boek mountain in Lom Kao district. The child had been stuck for approximately half an hour. The team rushed to the scene and found a boy, aged about one year, trapped inside a gray four-door Isuzu pickup truck. They successfully rescued him.
Prajit Sukhawattana, president of the association, stated that around 2:40 PM they were notified that a boy had been trapped in a parked vehicle at the convenience store parking lot on the road up Phu Thap Boek for over 30 minutes. Upon arrival, they found the boy inside the four-door Isuzu pickup. The child showed no signs of panic. Rescuers played with him to build rapport while attempting to manipulate the driver's side window. After about two minutes, they managed to lower the window and open the door. However, the boy refused to come out, so his mother had to carry him out.
Investigation revealed the family — a husband, wife, and their 1-year-5-month-old son — were tourists visiting Phu Thap Boek and were preparing to return home. After descending the mountain, they parked at the convenience store lot. The wife went inside to shop while the husband stepped out to stretch, leaving their son in the vehicle. When they returned to the car, they discovered the doors had automatically locked. Despite attempts by the tourists and bystanders, they could not open the vehicle. They then called the police, who coordinated with the rescue volunteers for a successful rescue.
