Wave of Wheel Thefts at Airport Link Hua Mak Parking Lot Sparks Safety Warning
Thieves targeting the Airport Link Hua Mak parking lot stole wheels from multiple vehicles in May, exploiting the unsupervised free lot that doubles as a dumping ground for abandoned cars.
On May 15, 2025, the Facebook page 'Sanam Luang Today' issued a safety alert after thieves stole wheels from multiple vehicles parked in the lot beneath Airport Link Hua Mak station. The post showed photos of several cars with wheels removed, some propped up with rocks and others left without support. One sedan, covered in bird droppings from prolonged parking, also fell victim to the thefts.
The social media alert sparked widespread comments from residents who noted that most vehicles in the lot are long-term abandoned cars—left for months or even years rather than days. The free parking area lacks security guards or official supervision, attracting both abandoned vehicles and thieves. Many frustrated netizens complained about the lack of available spaces for legitimate airport users, calling on authorities to address the security and management issues at the location.
