On July 21, authorities reported that Nang Ngao, 65, a resident of Sakaad Klang, Sakaad Subdistrict, Pua District, Nan Province, had ridden on the back of her son's motorcycle down from Sakaad Mountain to appeal her 2569 state welfare certificate at the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) Pua branch. She arrived around 1 p.m. on July 20 and joined the queue. Around 3 p.m., while waiting for her turn, she suddenly lost consciousness and collapsed. Staff and bystanders immediately rushed to help, performing CPR before contacting rescue services to transport her urgently to Somdet Phra Yuparat Hospital in Pua. Although medical teams made full efforts to revive her, managing to restore her heartbeat multiple times, she ultimately died around 4:30 a.m. on July 21. The incident deeply shocked those present and community members, as Ngao had made the difficult journey down from the mountains with hope of securing her welfare rights—a critical foundation for her survival—only to suffer this tragedy before completing her task. The official cause of death awaits further medical determination.
