Woman Arrested Selling E-Cigarettes Near University in Khon Kaen
Cyber police arrested a 24-year-old woman in Khon Kaen for illegally selling e-cigarettes near a university, seizing 112 devices from her residence after an eight-month operation targeting students and local residents.
On July 8, 2025, cyber police under the command of Lieutenant General Surpol Prembut, head of the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau, ordered the arrest of Ms. Ploy Nam Petch, 24, from Khon Kaen province. Officers seized 112 electronic cigarettes of various brands from her residence. Police investigation found that she had been illegally selling e-cigarettes to the general public and students from her rented room in Tambon Sila, Muang district, Khon Kaen, located near a well-known university. During questioning, she admitted to selling e-cigarettes for eight months, sourcing them from Southern Thailand through the LINE application and reselling them at a 50-baht profit per unit through the same platform. Her customer base consisted primarily of students, teenagers, and local residents. She faces charges under laws regarding concealment, sale, transport, purchase, or receipt of goods known to be untaxed, restricted, or prohibited items that bypassed customs, or were imported while evading duties.
