Thai Boy, 11, Wins Gold at World STEM Coding Olympiad

Eleven-year-old Sukonlawat 'Fok' Sukkasem, a student at Sarasas Witaed Rangsit School, has won a gold medal at the STEM & Coding Olympiad 2026 Grand Final in Rome, Italy. The world-stage competition gathered elite youth from over 54 countries to compete in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and coding. Held in early July 2026, the event saw 714 finalists advance from more than 20,000 online qualifiers worldwide to compete in person in Rome for top honors in analytical thinking, problem-solving, and programming.

Throughout the competition, Fok demonstrated exceptional STEM and coding abilities, particularly in logical analysis, computer problem-solving, and efficient programming, achieving the highest score to secure the gold medal and bring honor to Thailand on the international stage.

Behind this success lies Fok's dedication and passion for learning, having continuously practiced programming, game development, and computer problem-solving. This world-class award not only proves his ability but also reflects the potential of Thai youth to compete with top students globally.

Beyond the competition, Fok has distinguished academic achievements, including completing Harvard University's CS50P: Introduction to Programming with Python course via edX, with his final project 'QR Code Generator' receiving approval from Harvard faculty — another significant milestone reflecting international-level programming ability at a young age.

Fok's achievement is a source of pride not only for his family, school, and supporters but also serves as a powerful inspiration for Thai youth nationwide: with determination, dedication, and continuous skill development, Thai children can step onto the world stage and achieve success equal to any nation.
