Isuzu Launches World-First 2.2 Biturbo Diesel in Thailand

Isuzu Thailand has unveiled the world's first 2.2-liter twin-turbo diesel engine, the Ddi MAXFORCE Biturbo, producing 204 hp and 500 Nm. The engine debuts in the updated D-MAX pickup and MU-X SUV, offering better fuel economy than larger engines and B20 biodiesel compatibility. The launch underscores Isuzu's commitment to Thai manufacturing, where its vehicles command nearly 80% of export share.

Isuzu has launched the 2.2 Ddi MAXFORCE Biturbo "THE ABSOLUTE POWER" to stimulate the final-quarter market. The world-first diesel technology debuts across both the NEW Isuzu D-MAX and THE NEW MU-X. The new engine employs a twin-turbo system — a variable-geometry low-pressure turbo paired with a high-pressure turbo — producing a class-leading 204 hp at 3,600 rpm and 500 Nm of torque from 1,600–2,600 rpm. Fuel efficiency betters that of larger-displacement engines, and the unit is certified for B20 biodiesel, supporting national energy-security and sustainability policies.

Mr. Hiroyasu Sato, Managing Director of Tri Petch Isuzu Sales, stated: "As a global diesel leader, Isuzu never stops developing vehicle technology because the needs of Thai customers are our most important mission. This new powerplant preserves Isuzu's DNA while delivering the strongest, fastest, most durable, and most economical performance yet."

The launch elevates both the D-MAX pickup and MU-X SUV, which together dominate nearly 80% of Thailand's vehicle exports. With almost 70 years in Thailand, Isuzu continues massive investment, technology transfer, workforce upskilling, and over 90% local content, pledging to strengthen its domestic production base.

Technical highlights include the new Gi-BOOST 250 MPa 10-hole injectors for optimal combustion, a retuned 8-speed REV TRONIC automatic (plus a 6-speed manual option), EXTREME STRENGTH piston sleeves, ULTRA LOW FRICTION pistons with EvoGlide Tech coating, enhanced cooling and lubrication via HIGH FLOW PERFORMANCE systems, and full B20 biodiesel compatibility.

Doctors Warn Phone Use in Dark Damages Eyes, Children Most Vulnerable

Thai health experts from hospitals in Hua Hin and Nakhon Ratchasima warn that using mobile phones in dark rooms exposes eyes to high-energy blue light, causing strain, dry eyes, and potential long-term vision damage. Children and teenagers are especially vulnerable because their eyes are still developing and more sensitive to blue light. Doctors recommend keeping room lights on, taking breaks every 20-30 minutes, maintaining proper posture, staying hydrated, and getting adequate sleep to protect eye health.
