Mitsubishi Launches New Pajero in Thailand First
Mitsubishi launches the redesigned Pajero SUV in Thailand on October 19, featuring a modern design, advanced safety systems, and a powerful 2.4-liter diesel engine across a seven-seat configuration.
Japanese automaker Mitsubishi Motor Corporation is unveiling the legendary Pajero SUV, a 12-time Paris-Dakar Rally champion, with Thailand chosen as the first market for its launch and pricing announcement on October 19. The new fifth-generation Pajero represents a major evolution, incorporating 20 years of design changes under the concept of Grand Charisma-Calm and Composed, delivering powerful, premium styling with enhanced driving ease.
Exterior styling modernizes horizontal lines from the original Pajero while large wheel arches underscore formidable performance. The front design draws inspiration from traditional Japanese martial arts (Kendo), offering two grille options: a horizontal C-style reflecting Japanese craftsmanship and a honeycomb pattern that combines aesthetic beauty with function. Signature T-shaped LED headlights complete the look.
The cabin features a modern 14.3-inch dual-screen setup adapted from the original Pajero's horizontal dash panel, seamlessly integrating function into the premium interior. A three-row, seven-seat configuration includes a second row with 150mm sliding adjustment and single-action folding, while the third row offers generous headroom.
Safety technology includes the MI-PILOT system with pedestrian, bicycle, and motorcycle detection, plus four 3D cameras providing real-time 360-degree imaging. The Super Select 4WD-II system offers four driving modes: 2H rear-wheel drive, 4H continuous four-wheel drive, 4HLc with center lock, and 4LLc with center lock and low-range gearing. The exclusive Super-All Wheel Control system provides responsive, stable handling, while Active Yaw Control distributes torque between wheels through dual front brakes for cornering stability—technology proven in the world's harshest environments.
The vehicle is powered by a specially developed 2.4-liter clean diesel engine with a single variable-geometry turbocharger, delivering 480 Newton-meters of torque. This pairs with an improved 8-speed automatic transmission for precise power delivery and responsive acceleration. Mitsubishi Motors Thailand will officially launch the new Pajero and announce pricing on October 19, 2026.
