Rescue Team Saves Stray Dog Clinging to Driftwood in Fast River

On September 15, rescue workers from the Sarika Subdistrict Administration Organization in Mueang District, Nakhon Nayok Province, responded to reports of a stray dog—thin, brown-colored, and of unknown sex—trapped on wooden debris that had drifted downriver and lodged against a bridge pier on Soi Hin Dad. Fearing the dog would be injured if the debris broke apart in the current, two rescue workers descended from the bridge onto the debris. After spending considerable time coaxing and talking to the frightened animal, they seized an opportunity when the dog began to run and grab its tail, placing it in a basket and lifting it safely back onto the bridge. The entire rescue took approximately 30 minutes, after which the dog immediately jumped from the basket and ran away.

Thanaom Sak Khemchu, 43, the resident who spotted the dog and called authorities, said he was out fishing that morning when he noticed people gathered near the bridge. Upon investigation, he discovered the stray lodged in the debris beneath the bridge. The dog had initially been visible outside the debris, but moved inside when rain fell. Khemchu believed the dog had likely been stranded on the drifting debris for several days, noting how extremely thin it appeared. He expressed relief that rescue workers successfully brought the situation to a safe conclusion.
