Flood Rescue Saves Eight Cats, One Dog Dies in Prachinburi
In Prachinburi province, a homeowner called flood rescuers to save his pets after rising waters trapped them inside his house. One dog, named Farang, drowned before help arrived, while rescuers saved eight cats and another dog, Phet, from the roof. The Mitraphap Samakkhee Foundation team used boats and even cut mango branches to reach the animals.
The rescue team arrived with the homeowner in a boat, navigating through flooded fields to reach the property. Inside, the homeowner called out for his pets, naming the dogs Phet and Farang. When they opened the door, they found Farang already drowned; the homeowner apologized to the dead dog while shouting for Phet. Rescuers retrieved six cats from wardrobes and cabinets, and later discovered two more cats sheltering on the ceiling, where they left food and water. The body of Farang was wrapped in cloth and brought ashore for burial. Later, the homeowner called for Phet again; the Bangkaew‑mix dog was found on the roof of an outdoor kennel. To reach it, rescuers used an axe to cut mango branches, allowing the boat to approach. Phet was wet and shivering, and both the owner and rescuers lifted him onto the boat to safety.
