Thailand Warns of Heavy Rain, Flash Floods Oct 4-7
Thailand's Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department has warned of heavy rain, thunderstorms, and possible flash floods across the country from October 4 to 7. Authorities have instructed provinces to issue early warnings, prepare temporary shelters, food, and water, and maintain 24‑hour monitoring in at‑risk areas. The alert covers 77 provinces across the North, Northeast, Central, Western, and Southern regions.
The Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department (DPDM) warned that from October 4 to 7 Thailand will experience unstable weather, thunderstorms, strong gusts, and heavy to very heavy rain in some areas, which could cause flash floods, overflowing forests, landslides, standing water, and strong winds. The affected areas include 17 provinces in the North: Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lamphun, Lampang, Phayao, Phrae, Nan, Uttaradit, Tak, Sukhothai, Kamphaeng Phet, Phitsanulok, Phetchabun, Nakhon Sawan, and Uthai Thani; 20 provinces in the Northeast: Loei, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Nong Bua Lamphu, Udon Thani, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Chaiyaphum, Khon Kaen, Maha Sarakham, Kalasin, Mukdahan, Roi Et, Yasothon, Amnat Charoen, Nakhon Ratchasima, Buriram, Surin, Sisaket, and Ubon Ratchathani; 26 provinces in the Central and Western regions: Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Suphan Buri, Chai Nat, Sing Buri, Ang Thong, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Lop Buri, Saraburi, Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, Sa Kaeo, Chachoengsao, Chon Buri, Rayong, Chanthaburi, Trat, Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Pathum Thani, Nonthaburi, Nakhon Pathom, Samut Sakhon, Samut Songkhram, Samut Prakan, and Bangkok; and 14 provinces in the South: Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat, Ranong, Phang Nga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang, and Satun. The National Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Command ordered provinces to closely monitor the situation, issue early warnings to districts, local administrative organizations, relevant agencies, and residents in risk areas, especially where heavy rain or continuous rainfall is expected, to station officers for 24‑hour surveillance and to prepare temporary shelters, food, drinking water, and essential supplies for evacuees.
