The Pha Phong Subdistrict Administrative Organization said it ended the contracts of three workers because of high personnel expenses, stating the action was needed to cut costs. On October 2, 2026, over 20 villagers protested, asking for justice after the layoffs without clear explanations. Mayor Pasakorn Llawananasanth said the move protected public interest and helped keep finances stable, while Warangkha LertuthaiKul, a senior human-resources officer, added that staff costs were nearing 40 percent of the budget, so the organization had to follow the Local Government Personnel Administration Act of 1999 and reduce or terminate employment.
