On schedule! Dr. O met with Chadchart for discussions to exchange Bangkok flood information, pointing out stagnant water as the key problem. The governor said he welcomes Dr. O's visit and that Dr. O is also a victim, believing his experience will bring new viewpoints.
Date: October 2, 2069. Prof. Dr. Suchatchavee Suwannasawat, leader of the Thai Progressive Party, met with Governor Chadchart to exchange information and the flood situation, focusing on flooded areas, stagnant water, and polluted water in Ladkrabang and Romklao districts, where many people are still affected.
Prof. Dr. Suchatchavee said he brought field data to exchange with the governor and relevant officials. The situation around Ladkrabang Hospital, from Hua Taek continuing to Luang Phaeng, remains worrying. Meanwhile, the area surrounding King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, which serves as a relief shelter for residents, has also been affected by floodwaters spreading through several Khlong Khaeng canals.
The current major issue is that water levels remain high and the water is stagnant. If drainage is delayed, it could lead to foul water and impact residents' quality of life. Therefore, it is necessary to speed up canal management, increase pumping and drainage efficiency, and closely coordinate with the Royal Irrigation Department, as the eastern water system connects to areas outside Bangkok.
On the other side, Governor Chadchart said he was pleased to exchange information with Prof. Dr. Suchatchavee, who has expertise in engineering and tunnel systems and is himself a flood victim in Ladkrabang. This gives the city information from the perspective of those actually on the ground, helping to consider additional solutions.
He welcomed Prof. Dr. Suchatchavee, the country's top tunnel expert and a flood victim, saying it's good to share data and that the expert's experience will allow them to view the problem from many angles, especially since the serious issue lies in Ladkrabang district.
Governor Chadchart added that one area needing urgent attention is the eastern side of Ladkrabang, which is large and has many affected residents, so they must quickly find water management measures to reduce the impact on people.
This meeting brought together flood management data from the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and ground-level information from residents and those actually in the area, to exchange views and find ways to quickly resolve the flood situation in Ladkrabang–Romklao, especially tackling stagnant and polluted water, while minimizing the impact on residents as soon as possible.
