TSPCA and its network rescued 17 cats and two dogs stranded at Wat Ket Karam temple in Samut Songkhram after floodwaters left them without food. The operation followed the royal message of Princess Bajrakitiyabha to care for animals in crisis, with volunteers delivering cat food and supplies. Donors including academics, business leaders, and animal‑loving citizens contributed food, funds, and medicine for the animals’ recovery.
The TSPCA, together with its partner organizations, entered the flood‑hit area of Samut Songkhram on October 6, 2026, guided by the royal directive of Princess Bajrakitiyabha to look after animals in distress. At Wat Ket Karam temple, monks reported that 17 cats and two dogs had been trapped on the temple’s upper floors for several days, suffering from a lack of dry food as they roamed the grounds and came to the roof seeking meals. The rescue team delivered cat food and other supplies, while the monks themselves also faced hardship from the flood. Donors such as Dr. Prachas – Ajarn Cherdchom Chantharathip, heir of the founders of Dhurakij Pundit University, Associate Professor Dr. Worakon Samakoses, Assistant Professor Dr. Phetsak Sakulsriass, Associate Professor Dr. Walairop Rattanaset, Dean of the Faculty of Public Administration at Thammasat University, Assistant Professor Nutchapiban Bonchangsil, vice‑president of TSPCA, Jirapan Satrasopha, Krit Suepphong, Airak Fuguhara and family, Patthawan Sukkotan, Narutmu Rattansawat, brand manager of CATE at Kwang Pet Shop, the Sirikit National Convention Center, and animal‑loving citizens contributed food and funds. Additionally, Associate Professor Dr. N. Sop. Panthap Rattanakon and the Elephant Foundation of Thailand provided essential medicines for post‑flood animal rehabilitation. All participants emphasized that every animal is a friend and family member deserving of ongoing care, echoing the princess’s teaching to love and never abandon one another.
