Thailand Meteorological Department Warns of Heavy Rain Tomorrow
The Thai Meteorological Department issued its 11th unstable weather warning, forecasting heavy to very heavy rain in several provinces on October 6 and 7, 2026. The warning includes thunderstorms, strong gusts, hail, and possible flash floods, with sea waves over two metres affecting the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand. It also notes that heavy rain is expected to return from October 9‑13 across eastern, central, Bangkok vicinity, and southern regions.
The warning covers October 6‑7, 2026, when upper Thailand will experience unstable weather including thunderstorms, strong winds, hail, and heavy to very heavy rain in the north, central region, Bangkok and vicinity, eastern provinces, and the upper south; the northeast is expected to see reduced rain. On October 7, the western north, central region, and the south will be affected. The cause is a high‑pressure system or cold air mass from China moving south over northern, northeastern, and upper central Thailand, combined with easterly and southeasterly winds bringing moisture from the South China Sea and Gulf of Thailand, while the southwest monsoon continues over the Andaman Sea, southern Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand. The public is urged to beware of lightning, strong winds, heavy rain, possible flash floods and overflow, especially in hilly areas near waterways and low‑lying zones; avoid open spaces, under large trees, and weak billboards. Sea conditions in the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand will strengthen, with waves over two metres in thunderstorm areas; mariners should check routes, navigate cautiously, and avoid boating in thunderstorms. Additionally, from October 9‑13, 2026, increased rain is expected in the eastern, central, Bangkok vicinity, and southern regions, with heavy to very heavy rain in some places. The public should follow updates from the Meteorological Department via its website or hotline.
