Matichon Seminar Addresses Thai Education Overhaul Amid AI Disruption
Matichon newspaper hosted the Thailand Education Next for All seminar to address urgent reform needs in Thai education amid rapid AI-driven change. The event gathered policymakers, educators, and politicians — including Education Minister Permpoon Chidchob — to discuss the draft National Education Act, inequality, teacher burdens, and curriculum relevance. Two panel sessions focused on translating legislation into classroom practice and building cross-party consensus to unlock systemic change.
As the world changes almost by the second, fundamental questions loom over Thai education's direction. The arrival of artificial intelligence has brought massive positive and negative disruption, while the system still struggles with inequality, outdated management, overburdened teachers, and curricula that lag behind a fast-moving world. With the Ministry of Education drafting a new National Education Act to replace the 2019 version, Matichon convenes stakeholders from every sector to drive Thai education not just a step forward, but at a sprint toward international standards.
