44 Provinces Brace for Thunderstorms and Strong Winds Today
Forty-four Thai provinces face thunderstorms and strong winds today, with the Meteorological Department warning of scattered storms and intense heat across most regions, particularly in the north and northeast.
Thailand's Meteorological Department has issued a weather alert for 44 provinces to prepare for thunderstorms in scattered areas and strong wind gusts, with overall conditions remaining intensely hot. The department forecasts for the next 24 hours show elevated temperatures across northern Thailand with hot midday conditions and severe heat in some northern areas, while central regions continue experiencing thunderstorms and occasional strong winds.
Bangkok and surrounding areas will see midday heat with thunderstorms affecting 10% of the region, minimum temperatures of 27-28°C and maximum of 37-38°C.
Northern region will experience hot to very hot conditions during midday with thunderstorms affecting 10% of the area and strong winds in some locations, primarily around Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phayao, Lampang, Nan, Tak, and Phetchabun provinces, with minimum temperatures of 20-26°C and maximum of 37-41°C.
Northeastern region will see hot midday conditions with thunderstorms affecting 30% of the area and strong winds in some places, mainly in Bueng Kan, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Kalasin, Mukdahan, Roi Et, Yasothon, Amnat Charoen, Nakhon Ratchasima, Buriram, Surin, Sisaket, and Ubon Ratchathani provinces, with minimum temperatures of 22-25°C and maximum of 34-39°C.
Central region will experience hot to very hot midday conditions with thunderstorms affecting 10% of the area and strong winds in some locations, mainly around Lopburi, Saraburi, Ayutthaya, Kanchanaburi, and Ratchaburi provinces, with minimum temperatures of 25-27°C and maximum of 38-42°C.
Eastern region will see hot midday conditions with thunderstorms affecting 10% of the area and strong winds in some places, primarily in Sa Kaew, Chonburi, Rayong, Chanthaburi, and Trat provinces, with minimum temperatures of 25-28°C and maximum of 34-39°C. Sea waves are approximately 1 meter high, reaching over 1 meter in thunderstorm areas.
Southern region (eastern coast) will experience hot midday conditions with thunderstorms affecting 20% of the area, mainly around Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Songkhla, Yala, and Narathiwat provinces, with minimum temperatures of 23-28°C and maximum of 34-38°C. Sea waves are approximately 1 meter high, exceeding 1 meter in thunderstorm areas.
Southern region (western coast) will see hot midday conditions with thunderstorms affecting 30% of the area, mainly in Phang Nga, Krabi, Trang, and Satun provinces, with minimum temperatures of 24-26°C and maximum of 35-37°C. Sea waves are below 1 meter, reaching over 1 meter in thunderstorm areas.
