Thai Vivat Marks 75 Years With Crash Detection System
Thai Vivat Insurance marks 75 years by launching Crash Detection, an automatic accident detection system that alerts emergency responders in real time when a crash occurs, shifting the insurer's focus from damage response to proactive drive
Thai Vivat Insurance celebrates 75 years and announces its next step in auto insurance by launching Crash Detection, an automatic accident detection system that shifts the company's role from responding to accidents to providing real-time proactive care.
On September 8, Jirapun Aswathanakul, President and Chief Executive Officer of Thai Vivat Public Company Limited, revealed that the company is targeting double-digit premium growth this year. In the first half of 2026, the motor insurance segment grew approximately 7% while the Non-Motor segment grew strongly at 15%, reflecting successful innovation that meets consumer needs. The company now has a customer base exceeding one million policies, and the 75th-anniversary milestone prompted development of Crash Detection, aligned with the vision of modernizing insurance by elevating its role from damage management to proactive care.
Thepphand Aswathanakul, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, explained that the company is advancing into the auto insurance market by launching Crash Detection, an automatic accident detection system that identifies accidents while driving and connects drivers to assistance in real time. The system elevates care for drivers during the critical moment of an accident.
"Crash Detection is an automatic accident detection system that assists at the moment of accident, which is the most critical time when drivers may be in shock, injured, or unable to call and report their location themselves," Thepphand said. "The concept behind Crash Detection is designed to reduce steps in such situations by having technology detect the accident event and relay data to coordinate proactive, real-time assistance to our insurance customers."
Thepphand noted that in motor insurance, the company has continuously developed innovations, with usage-based auto insurance serving as an important starting point for developing policies that match real-world usage. Over the past 10 years, the product now serves over 400,000 policies across all 77 provinces. The pay-as-you-drive concept aligns with individual driving behavior and saves customers up to 80% in premiums, helping more Thais access auto insurance.
The company has also advanced motor insurance by incorporating digital services, vehicle condition inspections, AI-assisted damage assessment, elevated repair shop standards through the Thaivivat Guarantee program, and a Quality Control Center to ensure parts quality. A replacement vehicle service allows customers to collect loaner vehicles at the same partner workshop location where they drop off their car for repairs, enabling continuous daily life during the repair period.
Chelumpol Saypraserit, Assistant Managing Director, stated that Crash Detection was designed for easy use without requiring additional hardware installation. Users simply access the Thaivivat mobile application. The system uses smartphone sensors combined with algorithms to detect impact forces and movement patterns that may indicate an accident. When the system detects abnormal conditions meeting criteria, it alerts the user to confirm the situation and request help immediately.
When users request assistance, the system sends GPS coordinates and necessary data to the operations center to dispatch response teams to the accident scene, allowing customers to track assistance status in real time and improving emergency coordination.
