Activist Boonma Takes Up Case of Actress Threatened for Five Years
5d ago Khaosod

On August 13, Dr. Panida Vongphudit, chairwoman of the Organization for Good foundation, traveled to Bueng Kum Police Station to follow up on actress Neen Chatchaya's complaint after she was harassed and had her private space violated by an individual over a five-year period, through both chat messages and letters. The foundation has stepped in to assist with the case.

Boonma revealed that the actress had previously only recorded incidents and filed a trespassing complaint but no decisive legal action had been taken. The perpetrator's behavior has escalated, with him fantasizing that they are in a relationship and even that they have a child together. The harassment has intensified to include explicit content, house intrusions, and impersonation attempts through food delivery riders and fake identities, leaving Neen extremely anxious and afraid to go anywhere.

Boonma pledged to push the case to the fullest extent of the law and ensure it reaches court. The complaint filed invokes the new sexual harassment law, marking Bueng Kum Police Station's first case under this statute. The new law increases penalties from the standard one year imprisonment for general harassment to three years for repeated acts, and even higher sentences for online harassment.

Investigators have indicated they will expedite summoning the accused for questioning and proceed quickly with prosecution. Boonma warned sternly that if action is not swift, she will pursue the matter herself and track down the perpetrator.

When asked why Neen endured five years of harassment, Boonma explained the actress was taught from entering the entertainment industry to avoid problems, so she tolerated it. However, this case marks a shift in mindset—she no longer needs to suffer in silence.

Regarding the fact that the perpetrator is a former government official, Boonma stressed she has no concerns, noting that whether military or police, the law applies equally. Government officials especially should protect citizens, not harm them. She declared that the nation now knows of the wrongdoing, and warned him to either resolve it directly with her or face consequences.

Boonma assured Neen that her house is nearby and Neen can run there if anything happens, as she will handle the defendant. Neen expressed profound relief and gratitude, saying that over five years of harassment exhausted her emotionally and she felt lost without legal recourse under the old law. Now she sees a path forward and hopes her case will encourage all women to speak up rather than stay silent about harassment.

Land Office Eyes False Report Claim in Temple Trespass Case

Police are investigating a temple trespass incident in Khon Kaen where a 62-year-old woman and others blocked temple entrances on August 10. The Land Office now suspects heirs filing for a replacement deed may have made a false report, as t

Land Office Eyes False Report Claim in Temple Trespass Case
5d ago Khaosod

On August 13, Major Yoswat Kaewsubthanynich, superintendent of Khon Kaen City Police Station, updated progress on summonings issued to Pa Da, a 62-year-old woman named Chommani, to face charges of trespassing. Investigators reviewed video clips recorded by citizens showing a group blocking the entrance and exits of Wat Pa Adulayaram in Khon Kaen Municipality on August 10. Evidence from the video, combined with witness testimony gathered during the investigation, confirms that Pa Da was among those involved in the incident.

Major Yoswat noted that although Pa Da did not enter the temple grounds herself, her participation clearly constituted interference with the temple's property rights. Police have also identified approximately 5–6 other individuals involved, along with the source of a cement truck and the person who brought pipes to the site. These individuals will receive summonses for questioning and to hear the charges against them.

Meanwhile, Pongsuwat Chaidtontuek, the Khon Kaen Provincial Land Officer, addressed claims that heirs had filed for a replacement title deed, suggesting the facts may indicate a false report. He explained that whether guilt applies depends on the intent of the applicants and the findings of investigators. The heirs managing the estate on behalf of Buakai claimed the title deed was lost and presented two witnesses to confirm this, attaching a police report as supporting documentation. However, they later indicated during a follow-up that the deed was actually in the abbot's possession, contradicting their original statement.

"If that is the case, it constitutes a false report because statements were given to the land official. By authority, we must file a false report case against the land officer. Whether there is guilt depends on further investigation. If Buakai genuinely believed the deed was lost, there would be no intent; but if she knew it was not lost and still filed the report, it amounts to filing a false report," Pongsuwat said.

Three parties may be considered victims: the land official who received the statement, the police officer who took the report of the lost deed, and the temple, which holds rights under court judgment. To proceed with filing the false report case, the land office must first wait for the abbot to present the original deed and formally object. Since the application process has not yet issued a replacement deed and is currently in the announcement phase allowing stakeholders to file objections, should the abbot present the original deed and it is verified as authentic and not lost, the land officer will cancel the replacement application. A replacement deed can only be issued if the original is genuinely lost or damaged. Once the deed is confirmed as not lost, it does not meet the criteria for issuance. The case will then be referred to investigators and forwarded as a false report filing.

Police have arrested Bangrim, a 34-year-old psychiatric patient, for riding a motorcycle recklessly into Prachasat Bamrung School, a preschool and primary school in Nonthaburi's Bang Bua Thong subdistrict. The incident occurred on August 11 at 2:30 p.m., after which he evaded police by riding against traffic. Officers from Bang Bua Thong and Pak Khlong Rangsan police stations apprehended him on August 13 at 7:30 p.m. at a hotel in Pathum Thani, recovering a gray and black Honda Wave motorcycle with no license plate.

During interrogation, Bangrim denied wrongdoing, claiming he merely rode through the school grounds without causing damage or disturbance. He asserted he had the right to pass through and questioned why the school was alarmed. Regarding an earlier confrontation with a sedan driver, he alleged the driver struck him first and used a wooden stick to hit him, injuries he said were visible on video. He demanded evidence or video proof of his alleged violations.

Bangrim further explained that he regularly rides his motorcycle to turn off streetlights along roads as part of a personal campaign to reduce global warming, stating the world is heating dangerously. His family visited the police station to check on him. Officers conducted a urine test, which showed purple coloration, and Bangrim admitted to using methamphetamine daily. He is being held for further legal proceedings.

Police are pursuing a man known as Sueua, 45, after he allegedly shot his coworker Ballang, 33, in the forehead outside a used car lot in Bang Pa-In district, Ayutthaya province in the early hours of August 13. Ballang died at Rajdhani Hospital after receiving treatment for severe gunshot wounds. His body has been sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Pathum Thani for autopsy. Investigators from Bang Pa-In Police Station gathered evidence and requested an arrest warrant from Ayutthaya Provincial Court. Police also questioned a 67-year-old man named Uncle Maa for information after finding clues about Sueua's escape route. Officers discovered that Sueua may have hidden in a rice field area in Uthai district, Ayutthaya, but he was not found during their search. At the site, police found one set of clothing believed to be what Sueua wore after the shooting, two empty bottles of rice whiskey, and the remains of a campfire, suggesting he used the area as a temporary shelter before fleeing. Uncle Maa revealed that he regularly walks through the rice fields and typically returns home around 6 p.m. This morning at approximately 6 a.m., he discovered the campfire, signs of grilled fish, two empty whiskey bottles, and an abandoned factory uniform, but did not initially know it belonged to the shooter. Maa confirmed he had no prior knowledge of Sueua's involvement and provided no shelter. He said he knows Sueua because the latter frequents the area to fish and they last met about two days ago. Maa described Sueua as hot-tempered and noted he frequently argued with his wife but never mentioned problems with coworkers. Maa also stated he has no mobile phone and does not use social media, so he was unaware of the incident. Maa later guided reporters to the rice field location, approximately 6 to 7 kilometers from the crime scene, accessible only by dirt road. The area showed signs of habitation, including a pile of firewood, camping traces, and two whiskey bottles on a stone table. Police are examining the evidence to link it to the suspect. According to Maa, Sueua fled on a Honda Wave motorcycle of unknown color without working headlights. Police are urgently pursuing Sueua and gathering evidence from CCTV footage, witnesses, and physical evidence found at the scene to determine the motive and proceed with prosecution.

Environment Minister Tackles Drought in Phetchaburi with Water Projects
5d ago Khaosod

Natural Resources and Environment Minister Suchart Chomklin visited Cha-am District in Phetchaburi Province on August 13 to monitor drought conditions and water shortages, and to review progress on groundwater development and long-distance water distribution system projects in Huai Sai Noi Subdistrict. He emphasized that comprehensive water solutions are essential—not merely developing water sources, but ensuring water actually reaches communities. Accompanying the minister were Deputy Governor Phakpas Sonwattanayuth, provincial administrators, and three parliamentary representatives for Phetchaburi to assess conditions and discuss local water management approaches.

Suchart stated that drought and water scarcity directly impact residents' livelihoods, agriculture, and economic activity, making urgent action necessary to ensure adequate water supply and establish long-term water security systems. Two major projects are underway in Cha-am District: a large groundwater development scheme at Ban Hub Kaphong in Khao Yai Subdistrict serving at least 1,000 households and supporting 7,000 agricultural rai; and a groundwater water supply and long-distance distribution system in Huai Sai Noi Subdistrict producing 4,300 cubic meters daily—approximately 1.57 million cubic meters annually—covering over 2,000 households and 9,000 people across three areas.

The minister directed the Department of Groundwater Resources and relevant agencies to complete projects on schedule, maintain quality standards for borehole drilling and water systems, and coordinate with the Water Resources Department, Phetchaburi Province, and local administrations to integrate water sources, distribution networks, and delivery systems. He ordered groundwater potential data to guide expansion to other water-stressed areas in Phetchaburi and the lower Central Region, while ensuring economic viability and environmental protection. The ministry committed full support to help residents access adequate water, reduce drought impacts, and achieve long-term water security.

Large packs of stray dogs are damaging motorcycles and threatening residents at Chiang Mai City Hall, prompting calls for urgent action from local authorities to control the growing problem.

Stray Dogs Damage Motorcycles at Chiang Mai City Hall
5d ago Khaosod

Residents are complaining about large packs of stray dogs roaming the parking area at Chiang Mai City Hall, biting and chewing motorcycle seats until they are badly damaged. Frustrated residents are asking who should be held responsible. On August 13, residents recorded video footage of the stray dogs causing trouble in the parking lot, with dogs biting and damaging motorcycles, and questioned why the province's previous efforts have not resolved the issue, given that so many stray dogs remain. The incident in the video occurred on August 11.

Residents are urging relevant agencies to urgently and continuously address the problem so that Chiang Mai's provincial government center becomes a safe area for residents and staff, preventing the stray dog problem from recurring.

On June 18, residents who came to conduct business at the city hall filed complaints about the large number of stray dogs living inside and around the building. The dogs congregate in packs, bark loudly, chase people, and sometimes attempt to bite residents. Dogs have also been found lying on roads, blocking traffic and creating safety concerns.

Field inspections found stray dogs scattered throughout Chiang Mai City Hall, many lying on traffic surfaces, with some chasing passersby. Residents reported that at night, numerous dogs shelter in holes and spaces beneath buildings.

Former Olympic boxer Somjit Jongjoho says money he arranged for jailed fighter Manas Buunchamnong went missing through an intermediary, not the prison itself.

Olympic Gold Medalist Clarifies Missing Money to Jailed Fighter
5d ago Khaosod

Somjit Jongjoho, a former Olympic gold medal boxer, posted a video clarifying previous remarks about visiting fellow Olympic hero Manas Buunchamnong in prison. He said money he had arranged to be delivered to Manas went missing en route, blaming neither the prison nor himself but an intermediary who failed to pass it along. In the video, the 51-year-old boxer apologized to Bangkok Special Prison for miscommunication that led to misunderstanding.

"Let me be clear—this has nothing to do with the prison," Somjit said in the clip. "I didn't deposit the money with the prison. I arranged it through someone from outside who was visiting. Many people from the boxing world and fighter friends gave me money to pass along, but when I visited Manas and his wife, they told me the money never reached his hands. So I have to figure out where it got lost along the way and who ended up with it. It's really unfortunate."

Six days into the search, two relatives remain missing in Phayao province after entering a forest to gather mushrooms on August 8 and losing contact. The missing persons are Ramesorn Chandang, 20, and Nak Kamlue, 74, who are nephew and uncle. They last reported their location before their phone battery died.

Chiang Muang District Officer Pichai Khuenpetch has ordered a large-scale search involving administrative authorities, Doi Phunak National Park staff, village safety volunteers, community leaders, and rescue teams working continuously. Search teams have been divided into three groups covering the last known coordinates and areas along the Ping River, with the search expanded northward and eastward.

Officers discovered significant clues including campfires and sounds resembling voices, prompting urgent investigation of all suspect locations and analysis of possible movement routes. Despite the complex forest terrain, the search continues without finding the two missing people. Authorities are expanding the search area at full capacity in hopes of locating and safely returning both men to their families as soon as possible.
