Actor Kunchay Returns After 15 Years for Film Role
Actor Kunchay returns to filmmaking after 15 years for the action-drama film "Prasert," directed by Khom Kongkiat, marking his first major acting role since stepping away from entertainment.
Actor Kunchay is making a full acting comeback after 15 years with the film "Prasert," directed by Khom Kongkiat. After a long absence from acting, Kunchay attended the opening ceremony at Bangkok's City Pillar Shrine, where he revealed the experience reignited his passion for performance—so much so that he said he no longer wants to return to news reporting and hosting work. He also addressed the recent viral controversy involving Nooch Mua Banned Ngaan, clarifying he had no intention of revealing secrets, and congratulated Neneh on winning AGT 2026.
When asked about the film's atmosphere, Kunchay said he had just arrived and wasn't sure yet, but noted the opening ceremony follows tradition. He explained that he hasn't done much acting over the past 15 years except for a few guest appearances. This film is different—it's a large-scale, serious production in action and drama genres that he's never attempted before.
Kunchay clarified the film has no single lead character; instead, all actors play roles with their own backgrounds and development. The cast includes Weir, Toh, Phop, and others. When asked why he accepted the role, Kunchay explained his connection with director Khom dated back years. During a break on a previous Khom project, Kunchay had jokingly told the director that if he ever made another film, he'd like a part. They later reconnected at a funeral, and after about three to four months, Khom contacted him with a script. Though Kunchay initially delayed his decision, the production team eventually pressed him, noting other actors' schedules had moved on. Realizing he couldn't back out and feeling it would be foolish to reject such an opportunity, he agreed to the role. The film represents a major investment with a prestigious cast including well-known actors.
