Navy Divers Search Sunken Fishing Vessel, Find No Trapped Crew
Navy divers searched the sunken fishing vessel S. Kanchanawari 888 on September 23 but found no crew trapped inside, though search operations continue as missing crew members may have drifted away from the wreck site.
On September 24, Navy Spokesman Parachat RattanaChaiyphan reported on the search for the crew of the fishing vessel S. Kanchanawari 888. On the afternoon of September 23, Naval Region 1 dispatched patrol vessel T.112 along with dive teams from naval special warfare units, water rescue teams from the Saeng Rojandhamma Foundation in Sattahip, and volunteer rescue divers to the incident site.
Upon arrival, divers surveyed the sunken fishing vessel and conducted a thorough search of the surrounding area but found no crew members trapped inside. However, the Navy continues its search operations and acknowledges the possibility that remaining crew may have drifted away from the wreck site due to wind and ocean currents.
Naval Region 1 has deployed aircraft to search designated areas based on SARMap analysis from the Maritime Security Operations Center, which uses location data, wind and current patterns, and elapsed time to forecast drift direction and optimize search zones. The Navy has also coordinated with fishing networks operating at sea to maintain watch and assist in the search, requesting immediate reports of any sightings or clues.
The Navy confirmed it will integrate all available resources—air, sea, and civilian networks—to search for the remaining crew with full capability, considering wave conditions and worker safety. The Navy reaffirmed its commitment: "We do not abandon anyone at sea."
