Actress PP's Beach Name Comes from Her Great-Grandmother

The origin of Haad Chueang has just been revealed: it is the name of a famous actress's great-grandmother, something many people did not know before. A TV host thought it was a local dialect.

On September 6, actress PP Punyapriadi appeared on the program Sak 12 Rasi to discuss a post she had made on Instagram about visiting Samui. The host joked about her visiting an island belonging to someone who owns it.

Actress PP revealed that she is a descendant of Khun Chuang Vararaksa.

PP: Oh no, no, that's not it.

Host: You don't know he owns more than half of Samui, do you?

PP: That's right.

Host: Who is Khun Chuang Vararaksa? How is he related to you?

PP: He is my great-grandfather, or my great-great-grandfather.

The host then turned to ask PP's mother, who was also in the studio, to clarify: "He is my great-grandfather, my mother's great-grandfather."

PP's mother revealed the origin of the name Haad Chueang, which is her ancestor's name.

PP's mother: Our family is originally from Samui. We lived in Haad Chueang.

PP's mother: Yes.

PP's mother: We have a business in Samui.

PP: We rent it out and also have rental homes.
