Aed Carabao Prepares Tribute Song for Friend Killed in Flood

Aed Carabao is preparing a memorial song for his close friend Somprasong Phatthanawat, who died from an electric shock while trying to address flooding at his restaurant in Pak Chong, Nakhon Ratchasima. The incident occurred on September 28 amid flash floods from Khao Yai, and his body was later brought to Wat Pangkeng for funeral rites, where his Harley-Davidson motorcycle was displayed. His wife has called for a thorough investigation into the source of the faulty wiring that caused the accident.

Aed Carabao expressed deep sorrow and said he is preparing to turn his friend's story into a song and music video as a tribute. His wife, Vichanya Phatthanawat, 47, explained that the accident occurred around 11:00 a.m. on September 28 when she had gone to buy cleaning supplies for the restaurant. Staff called her to say that Pha Daeng had been electrocuted, and she rushed back. By then the floodwater was receding; five or six kitchen staff had returned to the staff quarters and found Pha Daeng unconscious, his head pointing toward the road and his feet toward the shop. Initial inspection showed an electrical wire that had descended from above along the staircase, matching a spot seen in a video clip. Electricity officials examined the wire and questioned its origin, while the restaurant insisted they had not touched or moved it because it is large and positioned high, requiring further investigation. Vichanya noted that she and her husband had walked through the flooded area two days earlier, on September 26, and noticed nothing unusual with the electrical system; if the wire had been faulty, an accident would likely have happened then. She added that the restaurant had experienced similar flooding six or seven years prior, and each time she makes sure to be the last to leave, checks the electricity, prevents staff from re‑entering hazardous zones, and evacuates any animals. She does not wish to assign blame, only wants a clear determination of the facts.

Elder Tuay Jan Kum Pu Ped explains that the village’s unique chicken‑wing and honey‑comb motifs, found only in Doi Tao and Hod, symbolise heritage and have endured despite modern influences.
