A man identifying himself as the son of an attack survivor has publicly revealed details of an alleged assault by a murder suspect now accused of killing and burying five people in Huai Yai, Chon Buri province. The survivor narrowly escaped death after being lured to a burial site, sustaining severe injuries including head trauma and a throat wound during a violent attack. The incident, which occurred several years ago, resurfaced after the arrest of the suspect on August 1, 2026.

The survivor's son, who requested anonymity, recounted how his mother dated the suspect, who claimed to be a retired police officer with access to narcotics. Following an argument, the suspect took his mother to Khao Chi Chaeng, an isolated hilltop he claimed was a burial ground for multiple victims. During the assault, the suspect beat her with a crutch, fracturing her skull and severing arm tendons, then slashed her throat—the wound narrowly missing her windpipe. When an accomplice expressed concern about locals discovering the burial site, they moved locations. During the transfer, a motorcycle accident occurred, allowing the injured woman to seize the vehicle and escape to Pattaya, where she received emergency medical care.

The son stated that when his mother disappeared, he attempted to find her at the suspect's house but was threatened at gunpoint. He is now confident the arrested suspect is the same person. The son believes the violence may have claimed other victims and is urging police to thoroughly investigate cold cases and gather additional evidence to ensure justice for all potential victims. Police continue to verify the allegations and evidence presented.

On August 1, Deputy Police Commissioner Netiwit Thanasitthinitkul announced progress in the corruption case involving rigged recruitment exams for local civil service positions. On July 31, the director of the Education and Psychology Testing Center at Srinakharinwirot University (SWU) and four staff members involved in altering test questions received notice of charges.

Investigators have been ordered to travel to Bangkok's special detention facility to file additional charges against three more suspects for aiding officials in performing duties improperly under Criminal Code Articles 86 and 157. Ms. B had harbored a deep grudge against the victim for causing her friend's death.

When Sun and Ms. B arrived at the funeral, Sun drew a gun and fired repeatedly at Phokhai, killing him instantly, and striking two others in the crossfire. Both suspects fled the temple. Police are actively pursuing them for legal prosecution.
