Thailand's "Amazing Thailand" under-16 ice hockey team won all three of its opening matches at the One Hockey 2026 tournament in Newcastle, Australia. The Tourism Authority of Thailand backs the squad, which also includes an under-14 team that won three of four matches. The initiative aims to promote Thailand through sports while giving young athletes international experience.
The Thai youth ice hockey squad competing as "Amazing Thailand" in the under-16 category showed strong form by sweeping all three first-round matches at the One Hockey 2026 international youth ice hockey tournament in Newcastle, Australia, with support from the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) for sending young Thai athletes to compete.
The One Hockey 14th Pee Wee & Bantam International Tournament 2026 takes place from November 2-7, 2026, at the Hunter Ice Skating Stadium in Newcastle, Australia. It is a club-level youth competition featuring several teams from Thailand.
For this event, TAT supported the selection of Thai youth ice hockey players to represent the country under the "Amazing Thailand" name. Team manager Bam Janista Lueanchalermwong led the delegation, which entered teams in two age groups: Pee Wee (under 14) and Bantam (under 16).
The Amazing Thailand Bantam (under-16) team, captained by Pichayaphum Watcharakun with vice-captains Narathipphong Charoensmith and Pakin Kittikorn Rinchumphu, won all three of its opening-round matches.
The Amazing Thailand Pee Wee (under-14) team, captained by Chanathip Wisetphaitoon with vice-captains Watcharachat Chittharasa and Thanathat Sawanniyarak, played four opening-round matches, winning three and losing one.
Beyond giving Thai youth ice hockey players international competition experience, sending the Amazing Thailand teams also serves to promote Thailand through sports under TAT's support, while providing a platform for Thai youth to showcase their potential on the world stage.
