Reporter Kanok Sak Sawangtrakarn visits the Sala Jaoh Rong Thong market in Ang Thong province to try the famous grilled Ryukyu fish snack. The snack consists of thin round sheets made from sweet fish or red fish mixed with flour and seasonings, then dried and grilled over charcoal. Owner Prachom Chat-amornwiset, 45, says his family has sold the snack for more than 45 years, originally charging one baht for three pieces and now selling bags for 20 baht each with a special dipping sauce. The sauce is made from palm sugar, vinegar and chili, giving a sweet, sour and spicy flavor. The snack is grilled to a light yellow for a soft texture or darker yellow for crispness, and is served daily from 10:30 to 19:00, except on rainy days. Many customers say they return again and again after trying it once.
