Yamaha Honors Champion Racer Idea Kritpatthorn at Hall of Fame
Yamaha Thailand Racing Team's Idea Kritpatthorn won the 2026 Asia Production 250cc championship after dominant performances at the Sepang circuit in Malaysia, becoming the company's eighth Asian champion.
Thai Yamaha Motor executives Pongsathon Ueamngonchai, Hidehiko Takagi, and Ukrit Phakvivarot held a gold star induction ceremony for Idea Kritpatthorn, a rising racer from Yamaha Thailand Racing Team, in recognition of his first Asian championship in the Asia Production 250cc class at the 2026 Asia Road Racing Championship Round 5 at Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia.
Kritpatthorn faced challenging circumstances after encountering problems during qualifying, forcing him to start from grid position 10. Despite the difficult position, he demonstrated exceptional riding skill and determination, overtaking competitors and crossing the finish line first in both races. He accumulated a 79-point lead over second place, clinching the 2026 Asian championship with one round remaining.
This marks Kritpatthorn's first Asian championship title and creates another milestone for Yamaha Thailand Racing Team, bringing their cumulative Asian championships to eight. The ceremony at Thai Yamaha Motor's Hall of Fame saw company executives and staff congratulate the latest Asian champion and celebrate the team's success on the regional motorsport stage.
