Thai Rider Krit Wins Asian Championship at Sepang
Thai rider Idea Krit Khuamkham claimed his maiden Asian championship in the 250cc class at Sepang in Malaysia, sweeping both races on Sunday to secure the title for Yamaha Thailand Racing Team with one round remaining.
The Asia Road Racing Championship 2026 Round 5 saw intense competition on Sunday, September 6, at Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia. Following his victory in Saturday's opening race, Idea Krit Khuamkham of Yamaha Thailand Racing Team seized the opportunity to clinch his maiden Asian title in the Asia Production 250cc class during Sunday's race, starting once again from grid 10.
Over eight laps, Idea made an aggressive start from tenth position, overtaking rivals early and moving into contention at the front of the field. Despite facing intense pressure from competitors, the rising Thai rider managed the race brilliantly before crossing the line first, sweeping both races at Sepang decisively.
With this victory, Idea Krit secured his first Asian championship in the Asia Production 250cc class with one round still remaining, simultaneously bringing Yamaha Thailand Racing Team their eighth continental title. In the SuperSport 600cc class, Team Thailand's Tee Anupap Samul finished third in the second race, trailing the winner by just 0.239 seconds and maintaining second place in the championship standings, with only a three-point gap to the leader heading into the final two races. The championship will be decided at Chang International Circuit in Buriram on December 4-6.
