Police Bust Illegal Gun Ring Across Three Provinces
Police raided three locations across Sukhothai, Chiang Mai, and Lampang provinces on September 6, arresting one suspect and seizing six firearms and ammunition as part of a crackdown on illegal gun manufacturing.
On September 6, Kitisak Durongkavibun, commander of Region 6 Police, coordinated a multi-province raid targeting illegal gun manufacturing. Officers led by Dechpon Premsiri and others from Region 6's Investigation Division raided three locations as part of an expanded investigation into suspects producing untraceable firearms.
The first raid in Sri Samrong District, Sukhothai, acting on a Sukhothai Provincial Court search warrant (No. 70/2569 issued September 3), found no target individuals or illegal items. At the second location—a boarding house in Mueang District, Chiang Mai, under Chiang Mai Provincial Court warrant (No. 504/2569 issued September 3)—police found a 59-year-old resident in possession of two boxes of shotgun ammunition totaling 50 rounds.
The third raid in Mueang District, Lampang, under Lampang Provincial Court warrant (No. 95/2569 issued September 3) proved most productive. Officers arrested a 48-year-old man and seized two long-barrel rifles, four short-barrel pistols, one gun part, and 88 rounds of assorted ammunition. The suspect and seized weapons were forwarded for further investigation and prosecution.
