Iraq dominated the first half, scoring three goals through Moammel Al-Shawi in the 10th minute, Hassan Al-Talib in the 19th minute, and Al-Shawi again in the 45th minute to lead 3-0. Thailand mounted a second-half comeback effort, with Chantawat Katib scoring in the 86th minute to make it 1-3, but they could not complete the comeback. The final score was Thailand 1, Iraq 3. Iraq finished the group stage undefeated with 9 points and won Group F, while Thailand claimed second place with 6 points.
