Thailand U-20 Beats Turkmenistan, Wins Second Straight
Thailand's U-20 football team defeated Turkmenistan 1-0 in the AFC U-20 Asian Cup qualifiers, securing their second straight win and advancing to the next round with six points.
Thailand's U-20 national football team took the field in their second Group F match of the AFC U20 Asian Cup 2027 Qualifiers against Turkmenistan's U-20 side. Thailand won their opener 1-0 against the UAE, while Turkmenistan defeated Iraq 2-1. Coach Chakraphan Panpee rotated three players, introducing left-back Surchai Boonchari, midfielders Shiva Pikulhom, Pawarisat Bunyamalerp, and Nathakorn Rattansuwan to support the attack, with goalkeeper Shivakorn Phonsarop in goal.
Thailand had to wait until the 57th minute for the breakthrough, with Shiva Pikulhom firing in a right-footed volley to break the deadlock.
Thailand's U-20 team has now claimed back-to-back victories and accumulated six points, securing their passage to the next round. However, the group's final match will determine whether they finish as group champions or runners-up. In a parallel result, the UAE lost 1-2 to Iraq.
Thailand's U-20 squad will face Iraq in their next match at Chonburi Stadium on September 6, 2025, at 7:30 p.m.
