High Tides Alert for Central Thailand September 7-13
High tides expected across central Thailand and Bangkok from September 7-13 will cause river and canal water levels to rise significantly, threatening low-lying communities with flooding during evening hours.
The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation has issued a high-tide warning for six central provinces and Bangkok on September 3, following an announcement from the Royal Thai Navy's Hydrographic Department. Between September 7-13 from 4 PM to 7 PM daily, high sea levels will likely cause water to overflow riverbanks and rise in the Chao Phraya River and canals, potentially flooding low-lying areas and unprotected communities.
The affected areas include specific districts in Pathum Thani, Nonthaburi, Nakhon Pathom, Samut Sakhon, Samut Songkhram, and Samut Prakan, as well as Bangkok. The department has coordinated with these provinces and Bangkok to monitor conditions closely and alert residents to the high-tide schedule. Private businesses operating on rivers and canals, residents in riverside areas, and emergency personnel have been asked to prepare equipment and response teams in advance. The public can receive alerts through the Thai Disaster Alert application and report emergencies via the Line account "Disaster Prevention 1784" or call the 24-hour hotline 1784.
