On September 3, the Meteorological Department issued its third heavy rain warning (No. 183/2569) covering upper Thailand through September 7, 2569. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in the North and Northeast, driven by a monsoon trough passing through these regions combined with a moderate southwest monsoon covering the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand.
Residents are urged to prepare for the danger of accumulated rainfall, which may cause flash flooding and overflowing streams, especially in foothill areas near waterways and low-lying zones. Travel is not recommended through areas prone to repeated flooding, particularly low-lying areas where water may pool temporarily. The department has identified 37 provinces at risk.
Tropical storm Sodel, currently in the northern South China Sea, is expected to make landfall on southern China's coast tonight and weaken into a depression. It will not enter Thailand. Residents planning travel to affected areas should check weather conditions before departure.
