Man Dies After Jumping Into Waterfall During Love Proposal Attempt
A man jumped to his death from a deep waterfall in Tak province after his marriage proposal was rejected by his girlfriend's family due to tribal customs. The woman survived but was left traumatized after witnessing the fall. Police recovered the man's body from over 50 meters below and are awaiting relatives to claim it for funeral rites.
The tragic love incident in Phop Phra district's Huay Pa Waterfall occurred when a man, recently discharged from military service and working in Bangkok for four months, returned to propose to his hill‑tribe girlfriend. Her family rejected the proposal due to a tribal custom forbidding marriage between people of the same clan. After learning of the refusal, the couple went to the waterfall, about three kilometers from her house, intending to end their lives together. The woman reportedly became afraid and stopped, but the man jumped and fell to his death. The shocked woman ran for help; police recovered the body and sent it to the hospital pending relatives' arrival for funeral rites.
