Four Crocodiles Spotted Near Kabin Buri Road, Residents Alarmed
Authorities in Kabin Buri, Prachinburi province, responded to multiple sightings of crocodiles near a roadside pond after residents reported the animals. Police and fisheries officials confirmed at least four crocodiles, including a two‑metre‑long specimen, and warned locals to avoid the area while efforts continue to capture them.
At 1:00 p.m. on October 8, 2024, the Kabin Buri police station received a call from residents who saw crocodiles in a roadside pond on Highway 33 (Suwannasorn Road) between Kabin Buri and Prachantakham. When officers arrived, they met the informant and, during the inspection, observed another crocodile about one metre long weighing 15–20 kg slip into the water, making two sightings total. They alerted the district fisheries office to plan a capture because the spot is a daily fishing venue. Shortly afterward, additional reports came in of a third crocodile seen nearby; local resident Udorn Kakrea shared a video clip of the animal crawling from a canal and crossing the bank. Village headwoman Wailai Pimphochar of Ban Mueang Kao Village 12 said a housemate reported a large crocodile basking in the sun behind her house, only ten metres away. Police later found a two‑metre‑long, roughly 30‑kg crocodile in a deep pool that had previously been flooded over one metre deep. Earlier that week, officials had fired a single shot at a crocodile, but the bullet missed and the animal escaped underwater. Wailai said she had informed the fisheries office and police, but the exact locations of all crocodiles remain unknown, so she urged residents, especially anglers, to exercise extra caution for their safety.
