Four Crocodiles Escape During Sakaew Flooding Crisis
Four crocodiles escaped during severe flooding in Sakaew province's Khao Chacherdphon district, prompting authorities to warn residents away from floodwaters and the dangerous wildlife.
Sakaew province continues to face severe flooding with water levels high across multiple areas, rendering several highways impassable. In Khao Chacherdphon district, residents reported finding four crocodiles, each about 2 meters long, near Golden Place Nava Farm. People who encountered the crocodiles fled to nearby trees for protection. Emergency responders are coordinating efforts to investigate the area and assist residents.
The Sakaew Highway Office has issued warnings for motorists to avoid high-flood routes. Multiple highways are completely closed to all vehicle types, including Highway 33 (Phraphrung to Nonchuek section, kilometers 236.5 to 237.5), Highway 359 (Sakauan to Khao Makha section, kilometers 11.7 to 13), and Highway 3462 (Sakaew to Sare Ao section, kilometers 28 to 29.6). Highway 33 in the Nonchuek to Aranyaprathet section and Highway 3366 also have restrictions for smaller vehicles.
Rescue officials urge residents to avoid entering floodwaters, stay away from the affected area, and refrain from attempting to catch or chase the crocodiles. Authorities are investigating and securing the area. The public is advised to follow official announcements and comply strictly with instructions from local officials to protect themselves from both flooding and dangerous wildlife that may have escaped from farms.
