The prosecution charged the defendant with premeditated murder, illicit burial, concealment, moving or destroying a corpse to conceal death or its cause, unlawfully taking a minor between 15 and 18 years old from parents or guardians for immoral purposes with the minor's consent, and taking a minor between 15 and 18 years old for immoral purposes even with consent.
The defendant, represented by his own counsel, pleaded not guilty to all charges, claiming self-defense and disputing the victim's age.
