BKS Begins Agricultural Goods Transport via Bus Network
BKS has launched a cooperative goods distribution center that uses its nationwide bus network to transport agricultural products, beginning with 600 kg of longkong from Uttaradit to Bangkok. The service aims to lower farmers' logistics costs, expand market access, and ensure fresh delivery within 24 hours. BKS plans to extend the model to other routes and produce across Thailand.
BKS cooperated with the Department of Cooperatives Promotion, the Agricultural Cooperatives of Thailand, and the Laplae Agricultural Cooperative to establish a cooperative goods distribution center that connects farm produce to BKS’s bus network across Thailand. As a pilot, they transported 600 kg of longkong from Uttaradit to Bangkok using BKS’s parcel service on the Uttaradit–Bangkok route. The route offers two daily Bangkok–Uttaradit buses and one Bangkok–Phitsanulok–Uttaradit bus, allowing easy collection of agricultural goods and swift delivery to Bangkok. This service creates additional transport channels for farmers, lowers logistics costs, and helps distribute produce to consumers quickly. BKS hopes the cooperation will expand market access for farmers, speed up distribution, and create opportunities to reach consumers nationwide, given that BKS operates 60 routes with 212 trips per day. Each bus has two under‑floor luggage compartments that can hold up to 400 kg of fruit, and goods are kept fresh because they are transported and received within 24 hours. BKS plans to continue working with government and agricultural agencies to improve the efficiency of agricultural freight, meet farmer needs, and potentially extend the model to other routes and produce throughout the country, supporting the safe, fast delivery of Thai agricultural products in line with company and Ministry of Transport policies. Deputy Director-General Narit Boonchai said this marks the first collaboration between the Department of Cooperatives Promotion and BKS to distribute cooperative agricultural products to consumers under the cooperative goods distribution center linked to the BKS network nationwide, starting with Uttaradit longkong bound for Bangkok, and the model will be adapted for other products to broaden transport links from source cooperatives to cooperative networks and cooperative distribution centers (CDC) across Thailand.
